WHAT YOU WILL HEAR

My guest for The Happy Hour #395 is Dane Ortlund! Dane C. Ortlund (PhD, Wheaton College) serves as senior pastor of Naperville Presbyterian Church in Naperville, Illinois. He is the author of Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers and Deeper: Real Change for Real Sinners. Dane and his wife, Stacey, have five children.

Y’all. When I started reading Dane’s book last month, I knew it would be one of my top reads of 2021 and I couldn’t wait to have him on the podcast. In today’s show, we talk about his recent transition from publishing to pastoring, and navigating these changes with his family of 7! Dane also dives into the message of his book, and how much God moves towards us rather than fleeing from our grossness and sin – something that no one else does for us so perfectly. It was so powerful when Dane said “All you have to do is collapse to get to Him (Jesus). The way you get to Him isn’t by climbing a ladder – it’s by falling down. All you do is fall into Him, but most of us are too proud to do even that.” Wow. That was so convicting for me in the best way. This book was such a reminder of how much God loves me. And at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters: Loving Jesus and being loved by Him.
