WHAT YOU WILL HEAR
My guest for The Happy Hour #376 is Richard Lui. Richard Lui is a journalist and News Anchor on MSNBC and NBC News. He just released a book called Enough About Me: The Unexpected Power of Selflessness which talks about his journey of exploring selflessness amidst his father’s Alzheimer's diagnosis. It’s beautifully written and a raw depiction of what it’s like to have compassion in everyday choices.
Funny story – Richard kick started his career as a journalist in Church Camp! How great is that? You’ll have to hear him tell the story. In today’s episode, Richard shares what it’s like to care for an aging, sick parent while also being on a fast career track, and the beauty of growing through hardship. Richard also talks about how our society is so deeply affected by selflessness or lack thereof. Exploring selflessness is not something that is inherently natural for us as human beings – it’s truly something we need to constantly exercise. I love when Richard says, “It’s okay not to be perfect, but to strive for the perfect opportunity.” YES. It’s not about being perfect, it never is. It’s about giving our best to do better and be better. Make sure you check out his book, Enough About Me!
