Today, Sara Hagerty joins me for The Happy Hour #155. Sara is wife to her best friend Nate, and a mother of six, including four children adopted from Africa and two through natural childbirth. Her first published book, Every Bitter Thing Is Sweet, found her a worldwide audience, drawn to the authentic voice heard in her emotive and Scripturally-based writing style, as she searches to find God in the midst of questions and brokenness. Her second book, Unseen: The Gift of Being Hidden in a World that Loves to be Noticed, comes out next week.
In today's show, Sara and I chat about how God built their family after a long journey of infertility. She shares how that and other pieces of her story left her feeling alone and how that became the impetus for her new book, Unseen. Sara talks about her fight to believe that God sees her, understands her, knows her, hasn't forgotten her – and how that truth is better than being seen by anyone else.
Sara's newest book is available to pre-order today. Make sure you grab a copy here. You will not regret it.
{You can listen to the show HERE. And of course, I would love if you would share with your friends. Just use the FB & Twitter links at the end of this post!}

Is it possible to subscribe on Spotify? I usually listen to podcasts through the web browser, but just recently downloaded Spotify to start subscribing, but I don’t see you there. If not, what app should I get on Android to subscribe?
By the way, this is my first time commenting! I’ve been listening for about a month and have started going back and listening to old podcasts. I love how positive and uplifting your podcasts are, while still keeping it real, too. Thank you for what you do!
Oh my goodness! Picturing God saying, “Ask me what I think of you,” is such a strong image! How have I never thought of that before? I struggle with anxiety and depression and I often have a lot of negative self-talk in my head. Sometimes I even think that God might be looking at me like I’m doing a bad job or I feel guilty for not being good enough and not being godly enough. But now that I think about it, God loves us unconditionally. He is proud of me, even though I fail sometimes. I need to remember that and picture Him saying that! Thank you for those words!
God knew I needed to hear this podcast today! As I listened to Sara share her heart and the message of this book, I could feel it resonating in my heart and it brought tears to my eyes. I was once given this word at women’s retreat – “Convinced God knows the way she takes”, and this came flooding back to me today. I could hear God saying ‘Are you listening?”…and so not only did I listen, but I pre-ordered her book! I am sure God is going to use this to encourage, challenge and most likely root out some sinful junk in my heart! Thank you Jamie for being vulnerable and having another grace-filled, godly woman on your show, and thank you Sara for sharing what God has taught you!
Hey! I have been listening to your podcast for almost 6 months and I love it! I listen every week and I’m going back and listening to all your shows! You are so encouraging Jamie and you make it seem like I’m in the conversation too. I talk to you while listening in my car even though you can’t here me haha! I listen while cooking doing laundry to and from work. I love your book recommendations too. I love the fact that you are a Christian and so am I. I like having something clean and fun to listen too. My husband has always wanted to go to Texas so I told him we should come see you lol.
