Happy Thanksgiving!

We are celebrating in cold Cleveland, TN this year with Aaron's parents, his brother & sis-in-law, and our two nieces.  The kids are having a blast and if you squinted real hard you saw some snow flurries yesterday.  The kids even said they made a snow ball, which actually looked like a piece of ice from the ice maker, but oh well, let the kids have fun.

That's how we travel around here.  I tell the kids no one gets a snack until everyone naps and it works like a charm every single time.  They nap and I nap.  Oh and Aaron drives.  Always.  Aaron will put on his headphones and be completely happy and hear nothing that goes on in the back.  It's how he drives the best, and since he drives the most I never complain.  In fact when we drove to TN he drove 15 of the 17 hours.  Yes, that's right I drove 2 hours of the whole day.  Husband of the year.

What did I do?  Well, glad you asked.  I read and slept.  Then read and slept.  Then read and slept.  All day long on repeat.  I was a broken record.  It was glorious.  I finished reading Sophie Hudson's book “A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet” and it was marvelous.  Such an easy read that had me crying and laughing all in one.  It was a perfect book to read on the way to my in-law's as it reminded me how important family is and how important it is to pass on their legacy.  It prompted to to ask my in-law's how they met as we ate lunch around the table.  To share stories and learn all we can about each other.  Her book will move you to do that.

Next I started reading “The Book Thief” and am loving it so much.  I have had this book on my to-read list forever and now that there's a movie out, I need to read it first.  That's a rule I like to follow.  Do you follow this rule?  Books before movies.  Always.

As we traveled I noticed on the map that we were going to be heading thru West Monroe and do you know what's in West Monroe?  Besides Johnny's Pizza and some of our friends from long ages ago, DUCK DYNASTY is there!  Yes, the DUCK COMMANDER center or whatever it's called.  So of course I talked Aaron into stopping there and y'all oh my word.  It is HUGE and full of stuff.  You can find anything you want there with a duck on it.  I was blown away at how huge it was.

Of course we had to get the obligatory pictures to prove that yes indeed we did go out of our way to stop at the Duck Command Center!

All in all it was a great trip.  Although we were spent when we finally pulled into Grandma & Grandpa's house the kids were amazing and I can hardly contain myself because we are doing this again in two days.  In two days.

Happy Thanksgiving friends!

Where are you spending this Thanksgiving?  Have you read the Book Thief?
