Happy Hour #54 is with my friend Sophie Hudson. Sophie loves to laugh more than just about anything. She began writing her blog, BooMama.net, in November 2005, and much to her surprise, she's stuck with it. Sophie hopes that through her stories, women find encouragement and hope in the everyday, joy-filled moments of life. In addition to her blog, Sophie is a contributor to the Pioneer Woman's blog and serves as co-emcee for LifeWay's dotMOM event. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Sophie loves cheering like crazy at college football games and watching entire seasons of TV shows in record time. The author of A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet and Home is Where My People Are, Sophie lives with her husband and son in Birmingham, Alabama.

On this episode Sophie and I dive into all things book writing, women that have mentored us in motherhood, college sports, dreams for our kids, and how we should love those around us well.

This episode was so fun! As I was getting ready for work this morning, I decided to check my podcast app, knowing it was Wednesday, to see if the newest Happy Hour episode had already dropped – and it had! I was so excited to listen to your conversation as I did my hair and make up and then drove to work. Love it!
Also, I must say that I am a little sad to hear that you are changing your opening song. I remember when I first started listening to your podcast, and your conversations were so encouraging on my drive home after long days at work. I actually would get a smile on my face when I hear the music because I know your podcast is coming up. I can totally understand updating the song for technical reasons or if people have a hard time hearing your talk over the words, but I just thought I’d let you know how much I do like the song!
Jamie Ivey!!! I am not even all the way through this podcast yet but I just heard you say that you are about to change your music. What?!?! I love it! Even and especially the singing! Please tell Aaron I am not distracted. My vote is to keep it. It is so cute and happy and such a perfect pairing with your content.
Love, a fan.
Just starting to listen- can’t wait! Also, I have to say- y’all always talk about TV shows but no one ever mentions Orphan Black. I think you would love it, Jamie!!! Have you seen it??!! So good!
I love Sophie Hudson!! I am somewhat new to your podcasts and so I’ll admit I have been going back through them starting with guests I am already familiar with (Jen Hatmaker, Emily Lex, Emily Freeman….) but when I saw your newest podcast was with Sophie Hudson I literally did a happy dance. Love her!!! Her two books are two of my favorites. And while she literally makes me laugh out loud, I loved your discussion that came out of the book she is reading. I found myself tearing up and nodding along. Yes, please. More grace. More love. I’m ordering that book today. Thank you for your great, encouraging shows! P.S. I like your theme song music, too!
I love listening to the Happy Hour podcast. I usually listen to half of it on my way to work, and finish it up on my way home. It’s such a fun way to start my day, and a great way to “wind down” after a crazy day of teaching middle school! Thank you so much, Jamie!
Jamie, I listen to your podcasts while I work cleaning offices at night. I enjoy listening so much. Your casts are great. Thank you.
Had NO idea that computers read files on your desktop as being open. AGH!
I LOVE ME SOME BOOMAMA, and just met Jamie Ivey at Allume and SO excited to hear the two of you together! Loved the analysis from the Garth Brooks concert…seriously, we can learn a lot from all that. And was absolutely enthralled by the statement that “the generation doesn’t have to listen to us.” Great point! We MUST be wise and kind in how we communicate. Really enjoyed this podcast!
P.S. Now I know there is a chat room for EVERYTHING! 😉
Hey girls! i LOVE LOVE LOVE this podcast! I’m SOOOO loved the “real talk” about writing! And I’m with you Jamie…it makes my “armpits sweat” to think of it! I need that BUDDY to share writing with! Why not find some people to CONNECT with to do that! Why not other HAPPY HOUR friends!? Anyone??
