Last week I was a concert-going-woman!  I like to say I'm diverse in my musical listening and last week was proof of that.  It started on Saturday night with the Pat Green concert at The Backyard.  Aaron wasn't too interested in going so I took my friend Tiffany with me and we had lots of fun.  It was my first time at the Backyard and I really enjoyed that venue.  Fun times!

Here are Tiffany and I waiting for the show to get started.  Ugh I had to wear my glasses since I was having LASIK the following week.  I hate my glasses!  BUT I'll never be wearing them again!!!

I got on the list for the “meet & greet” for Pat Green.  Nice guy.  We had talked to him on the radio that morning and so I introduced myself.  Not sure he cared, but hey it was fun to see him after I had talked to him that morning on the show.

Cory Morrow was also there and played right before Pat.  I had heard great things about him and so it was a joy to meet him and his wife.  They were super sweet and actually go to the Stone sometimes, so that was a fun connection that we had.

Tiffany and I spent most of the Pat concert on the side stage watching him.  The sound is not the greatest there, but it's fun to see the show from that view.  Also we figured out which one was his wife and that was cool.  Maybe because I'm a girl, or because I'm a wife, or probably because I'm a wife of a musician I'm always very intriqued by wives of the singers.  I would have much rather had a meet n greet with Mrs. Green and Mrs. Morrow, but that's just me.  I feel as though behind every great musician is a great supporter at home!  Maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel good.  🙂  Anyhow I wanted to introduce myself to Pat's wife, but I figured that would be creepy so I didn't.

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine via the internet … you have those friends, right?  Friends you've never met, but you have emailed, you read blogs and you communicate that way.  Anyhow a friend of mine in that way emailed to ask if Aaron and I wanted a date night to go see Weezer play while they were here in Austin.  UM … heck yeah.

Side story … I have to admit here that I'm not a big Weezer fan.  I can only name one song of their's … something about Buddy Holly.  Right?  So when I “met” this friend last summer she told me her husband was also in a band and he was in the band Weezer.  So as I was telling Aaron about my new friend I told him that her husband was in “THE WEEZERS”.  Oh what a dork I am!  So that is our running joke around here … I call them “the weezers” or “the weezer band”.  (Sorry Jillian & Scott!!)

Anyhow my friend Jillian couldn't come to the Austin show so she asked if Aaron and I wanted VIP tickets.  Um … let me think about that one … um … still thinking … um YES!  Well we looked at our schedules to see that Aaron was out of town when the concert was.  Oh well .. I invited my friend Melissa to join me!

So … we got to Stubb's and got our tickets and VIP stickers and made our way to the balcony where we watched the entire show.  Again, the sound wasn't good b/c of where we were sitting, but it was JAM PACKED in the audience and I know they were stinking hot and couldn't leave their spot to get more beer.  We were in a great spot and this is what we saw all night …..

That's Jillian's hubby, Scott, right there playing bass.  I must admit that although I didn't know the words to any songs, I did recognize more than I thought I would.  These guys put on a great show.  I had a lot of fun and enjoyed my night out with Melissa.

So glad I wasn't standing out in this crowd!

Melissa and I had a great time and even got to go backstage after the show to what seemed like a private gathering.  I felt super out of place and knew no one.  I wasn't interested in hanging out with people I didn't know, but I did want to meet Scott and thank him for the tickets.  Once again just like I said above I would have much rather met Mrs Shriner, but Scott would do.  He was super gracious even though I'm pretty sure he was exhausted and wanted nothing to do with some freaky stranger who knows is wife through the internet!  Ha!  But he was very nice and I am so glad I went.  I didn't get a picture with him, because seriously I didn't want to be “that” girl … although now I'm wishing I had a picture.  🙂
