My hope this month is that I can showcase a few organizations that are giving back with each of your purchases.  These are organizations that are committed to doing more with your dollars than just pocketing them for themselves.  They care about the least of these.  As you prepare for Christmas shopping I ask that you think about your money and don't just throw it to anyone.  There are lots of giveaways this month, so check back daily!

31 bits

I can't remember when I first heard of 31 bits, but it's one of those places that I've always adored everything that they have to sell.  They are doing great thing for the designers in Northern Uganda that make all their jewelry!  They purchase the product directly from the ladies and pay them a fair trade salary.  They know exactly how much they are going to be making each month.  In fact their salaries are comparable to a school teacher in Northern Uganda.

One of their designers can make between 5 to 15 necklaces in a week.  Their beads are made out of recycled paper that comes primarily from old posters, magazines, fliers, and textbooks.  The beads are then sealed with a non-toxic, water-based varnish.

31 bits is giving away a bracelet to one of my lucky readers!  It's the “Daphne” bracelet in forest green!

“Collect. Stack. Trade. Combine. Gift. We can't get enough of our colorful, single-strand Daphne bracelets, made on elastic.”
