Okay, I REALLY caught up on some reading this month! There's something about January that just really motivates me to get back into my reading routine, so I did just that! I've got some great recommendations for you this month so get ready to add some good reads to your Amazon cart!
Here's what I read in January:
Sexless in the City
Kat Harris is the author of Sexless in the City releasing in April of this year! Kat joined me on the podcast back in 2018 and talked about her life as a single gal in NYC choosing abstinence. From that episode, she had hundreds of women reach out to her asking her all the questions about how she does that, and I'd like to think this book is her answer to that question. Kat is honest and funny about her journey in this book. It's as if your favorite girlfriend is not just telling you what you should do, but telling you how she got there – the good and the bad in that journey.
That Sounds Fun
Most of you are very familiar with my dear friend Annie F. Downs! Her book, That Sounds Fun releases THIS WEEK and I cannot wait for you guys to get your hands on this one. The subtitle is The Joys of Being an Amateur, the Power of Falling in Love, and Why You Need a Hobby. Annie has always been so great with explaining specific emotions and getting people to relate to her on a deeper level. This one is a must-read.
My Tech Wise Life
I recently had Amy Crouch on the podcast to talk about this book! Amy and her dad, Andy Crouch wrote My Tech-Wise Life to help families and teens make smart and healthy choices around technology and devices. This book was so helpful to me, not just as a mom but as a consumer of technology myself. It's always good to get a healthy perspective on how to build good habits around technology.
Confronting Christianity
I’ve had Confronting Christianity in my “to-read” pile for over a year and I FINALLY dug in. And guess that? I devoured it. It was way more academic than my normal reading, and I loved it! If you are doubting your faith or have some hard questions about God, this book is for you!
An Impossible Marriage
I absolutely LOVED this book! An Impossible Marriage is now one of my favorite books about marriage. Although their struggles are different than ours, the way they fight for their marriage, trust God with their suffering, and see the beauty in God’s design for marriage is not only encouraging, but convicting. Also, the authors Laurie and Matt Kreig are coming on The Happy Hour soon! Keep an eye out!
