Aaron and I have a huge challenge in front of us. One that we are both excited about doing. We have volunteered to host a sweet little girl named Fedna as she comes to Austin for surgery. We feel honored to join her in her journey. I can't even imagine as a mommy sending my child to a foreign land and trusting that some stranger will take care of them. We are those strangers. She will come back a different child. Her life will forever be altered. We feel honored and blessed to be a small part in her journey.
Our sweet little girl could be here a few months. Her surgery could require a few days in the hospital or a week. We won't know until she gets here and is evaluated by the doctor.
While she's here we will need a great support system. We'll need help with our boys. We'll need friends to visit and help at the hospital. We'll need to borrow a car seat. We'll need to borrow sweet little 3 year old girl clothes. We'll need someone to possibly have our little girl at their house while we are out of town for a few days in January. But most of all we'll need encouragement and support from our friends and family.
Please visit the MAT team's blog here. They are still in need of help for another little child coming here soon for surgery. Even if you can't host, you could possibly sign up to do respite care or to be support for a host family here. Every little thing counts. Let's all work together to help change these kids lives forever.
Thanks so much for your help and support!
I knew she had to be the little girl that you were referring to in a couple posts back…. How exciting for you guys! She will bless you more than you could ever imagine. The fact that she is still alive, is an ABSOLUTE MIRACLE from God! Micah, our almost 6 year old, was born with Spina Bifida too. God must have amazing things for this young lady to do!
WOW that is so awesome! I hope you have a wonderful time getting to know her! I can’t wait to hear all about it!
Thank-you!!!! And God bless!
dawn:)
What an amazing gift to give her. I’m sure it will be a gift for you guys, too.
We will be back on the 3rd or 4th of January, if you are heading out of town after that we can certainly be of some help to you!

So awesome that you are doing this!
Thanks Jaime.
So much…..

You two are truly giving people. I am so thrilled to read your blog, and will keep you and ALL of your family in my prayers. Because of YOU and your blog my extended family is donating to the Haiti causes you talk about so often in lieu of gifts to one another! Regardless of how you feel, you DO make a difference!
This is amazing!! I am sure it will be challenging – but how great is it to be able to host this sweet girl, to be to love on her during this life-changing time in her life?!
I wished we lived closer, I would love to be able to help you when you will need it. Help will come to you….I can’t wait to hear about it!
Hey Jamie,
I work at the Children’s hospital as a nurse and would love to help you guys out in any way I can. I am so moved by your family’s love for God’s children.
