WHAT YOU WILL HEAR

My guest for The Happy Hour #341 is Jonathan Almonte. Jonathan was registered in Compassion’s Child Sponsorship Program when he was seven years old. Today, he is a manager of Supporter Engagement for Compassion Dominican Republic, serving donors and sponsors of Dominican children. Jonathan lives with his wife, Kary and 3-year-old son, JD.

If you have been following me for a while, you have absolutely heard me talk about Compassion before and how much I love the work that they are doing. This episode is extra special to me because it gives such a personal look into the impact of sponsorships in the lives of these incredible children. In today’s episode, Jonathan talks about his childhood growing up in deep poverty with a single mother, and how he got connected with a sponsorship program through the local church. The sponsorship provided school supplies, new clothes for school, food for him and his mother, and so much more. He even had the opportunity to meet his sponsor just a few years ago! Jonathan also dives into how sponsorships provide more than basic needs, but also provide a way for children to be introduced to the Gospel. I love when he says, “It’s more than just the $38. It’s making a child a disciple of Christ.” Y’all. That is the Gospel! Reaching people through the local church and being the hands and feet of Jesus. Jonathan is such an incredible person and I’m so honored I had the opportunity to hear about how God changed his life through Compassion. We have a big goal to get children sponsored in the Dominican Republic, so visit compassion.com/ivey to learn more and sponsor a child today.
