WHAT YOU WILL HEAR

My guest for The Happy Hour #327 is Kim Walker-Smith. I definitely had a fan-girl moment the first time I met Kim in person, and I am so happy she is joining us on the podcast today! Kim has been a part of the Jesus Culture movement since its beginning. For more than a decade, she has played a major role in influencing worshippers and worship teams to passionately pursue Jesus. She also released a beautiful album this year called Wild Heart, which has been such an encouragement to me during this season.

In today’s episode, Kim talks about the importance of finding our identity in more than just what we do, the process of writing and recording her album, and her testimony of coming to know Christ. Kim also dives heavily into how much church and leading worship has changed as a result of COVID-19, and what living a life of worship truly means. She is so transparent about how easy it can be for churches and leaders to hide behind the so-called “production” of it all. And while all of that has been stripped away in this season, Kim is so passionate about this being a wake-up call for us to remember what our leadership is rooted in. I love when she says, “When you take it all away, do you still have Jesus to offer?” That is such an important question to ask. Not just during this season which looks incredibly different than we imagined, but in every single season as followers of Jesus. I’m so grateful for Kim’s transparency and faithfulness to rooting her identity in what Christ has done, and who He is. I hope we all walk away encouraged to do the same.
