WHAT YOU WILL HEAR
My guest for The Happy Hour #314 is Rachel Gilson. Rachel serves on the leadership team of Theological Development and Culture with Cru, and is the author of Born Again This Way: Coming Out, Coming to Faith, and What Comes Next. Her writing has appeared in Christianity Today and for Desiring God and The Gospel Coalition, and she speaks nationally and internationally at churches and on college campuses.
Y’all, Rachel has such a way with words and truth, and I am so thankful that she joined us on the podcast. In today’s episode, we talk about Rachel growing up in a non-religious home, finding Christ in the midst of same-sex attraction, and ways that the church can come alongside the LGBTQ+ community. Rachel also tells us about the challenge of trusting God even when we don’t understand, and how this affects our pursuit of self-desires. I love so much how she worded it by saying, “We cannot trust in the most tender places and the riskiest places unless the person asking us is someone who has proven beyond a doubt that they are trustworthy.” Friends, Rachel reminds us today that it’s not that our desires are trivial, but rather that what Jesus offers us is so much better. I was truly blown away by my conversation with her, and I hope you can find some encouragement today knowing that we can trust God even when it doesn’t always make sense.
