I DID IT! My very first podcast! I can't believe it. If you have been reading my blog at all, you know I've talked about wanting to do this for a while now. What has been holding me back is the simple fact that I don't know how to create a podcast. To me that seems like a rather big obstacle, don't you think? But, needless to say I was listening to a podcast about podcasting the other day (funny, I know) and their advice to us newbies was to just do it. To jump in with two feet and get it moving. So, I jumped in with two feet. I'm still learning how to edit in garage band (clearly because in this episode we lose connection and there's a few seconds of dead air and I don't know how to delete it!), have no idea how to add intro/exit music, haven't even figured out how to upload to itunes, but I recorded it, and am putting it out there.
Today after we recorded this, I found myself questioning this whole thing. Wondering if anyone would even want to listen to this. Wondering what the heck I was even thinking. Wondering if I should just stick to writing and not talking. Then I remembered that I love to listen to podcasts. I listen to the women that I love and trust even when they are talking about their kids that I have never met, what kinds of purses they want, or their deepest moments in marriage. I love their ideas and trust their words, and so listening to them on a podcast was easy for me. So, hopefully some of you will enjoy this. If you do, I'd love to hear about it. Feel free to leave a comment, or once I get this whole itunes thing up and running you can leave a comment there. If you hate it, then just go ahead and keep that to yourself. 🙂
My podcast is called HAPPY HOUR with JAMIE IVEY and the reason I picked this name is because I love happy hour with my girlfriends. It's not that I just love having a glass of wine with them, because I do, but it's more than that. It's the conversations that we have. It's the fact that there are no kids around. It's the fact that we're comfortable with each other. It's the fact that we can talk about the most mundane parts of our life one minute and switch right to our deepest hurts in the same hour. It's what girlfriends do.
So, that's what I want this to be. It'll be a friend & me each week discussing life, and I would love it if you wanted to join us. Listen while you run, listen while you do dishes, listen while you wait in the carpool line. Listen whenever.
In this episode, Amy and I discuss both of our upcoming vacations to Mexico, the books we want to read, letting our kids play tackle football, Dolly Parton, American Idol, tv shows and lots of other important matters!
{You can listen to the show HERE, and make sure you never miss a Happy Hour by subscribing through your favorite podcast app (ie. iTunes, Stitcher). And of course, I would love if you would share with your friends!}
I’m sure I am the total spaz, but I cannot figure out how to listen to your podcast.
Chelsea – I think you can just listen above – under the picture of Amy & I there’s a play button. Let me know if it doesn’t work for you!
🙂
Hi Jamie, you don’t know me, but we have mutual friends :). Just wanted to say I couldn’t disagree more with Amy and the idea that if a kid doesn’t play pee wee football, they are out of luck in high school. Coaches always have and always will look for 2 things – size and talent. If a kid has either, 90% of coaches will give them a shot. Why? They want to win. Elementary school experience counts for 2 weeks in 7th grade and that’s about it. The only way it matters is if your kid might be afraid to try a new sport that other kids have played – which certainly happens, and is understandable. Kid’s sports should be about having fun and getting exercise, not about making varsity in 7 years. Anyway, I did appreciate her other reasons for letting her kid play tackle football AND that you guys were so respectful of the other’s decision.
Kerri thanks for joining the discussion!!!
Loved it and confirms even more to me that I wanna be Amy’s friend! So funny and spunky.
I loved this!! Such a fun & relaxing podcast to listen too 🙂 way to go on taking the plunge into the world of podcasts!
Thanks Leigh Anne!
