My guest for Happy Hour #90 is the very beautiful Lauren Chandler. Lauren is a momma of three kids and wife to Matt Chandler, the lead pastor at The Village Church and President of Acts 29 Network. She recently released her first book: Steadfast Love. I am nearly half way through reading it and loving it so much.
On the show, Lauren shares how she and Matt met while she was a camper at a camp at which Matt was speaking. She insists that it's a little less interesting than it sounds, but I will let you decide. Either way, it's fun to imagine how cute those two were back then.
Lauren shares her journey with Celebrate Recovery, a biblical program that aims to help people overcome their hurts, hang-ups and habits. She tells about how difficult it was to get over the fear of losing people's approval and admitting that she was a sinner in need of a savior to redeem every part of her story. Lauren is now a huge advocate and supporter of recovery ministries.
Lastly, Lauren and I talk about what it was like to learn that her husband was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Many of you, like me, may have heard bits and pieces of their story or have read their story, but I think you will love hearing Lauren's perspective and how the Lord used the events to confirm God as sustainer in their lives. They have a powerful story and I am so thankful that Lauren is being faithful to share.
{You can listen to the show HERE. And of course, I would love if you would share with your friends. Just use the FB & Twitter links at the end of this post!}

It would be super cool for you to interview Jamie from foster the family blog.
She has a lot to teach everyone about foster care! Her website is : https://fosterthefamilyblog.com/about/
This episode was incredible. I absolutely loved hearing Lauren’s story, and it had me in tears many times. I so appreciated her honesty and vulnerability in sharing her experiences as a pastor’s wife. Thank you for this!
This particular podcast is exactly what I needed to listen to this evening….
Waiting for the clock to hit 5:30 to start dinner. Like clockwork every day. The kids start their witching hour usually around this time. Thank God my husband got home earlier this evening for me to tune it all out, put The Happy Hour on and have a little escape while I fix dinner. With having relocated to San Antonio two months ago it has not been the easiest of transitions. Not knowing a single soul, not knowing our surroundings, and moving from a house in a neighborhood with playgrounds/spraygrounds galore to a temporary lease in a two bedroom apartment, yeah it is hasn’t been the easiest. Today the feelings of isolation and loneliness and lack of adult connection and conversation start to creep in and just like that it’s time to get to cooking. The most substantial and tangible parts that literally reached right out and grabbed me standing over my stovetop were the “if i were this or that, then i would be good enough”…..Oh My Goodness!!! My soul needed every word of that that was spoken!!! Your podcast is my pick me up, my little push to keep going, and at times like a soothing balm over the aching parts of me. Thank you from the bottom of this isolated young mama’s beating heart!
Hi Jamie! I loved this episode! You’re right, Lauren seems like the most down-to-earth, sweet and genuine person ever. I loved hearing her story and getting to know more about her. I live in CA but I always listen to Matt Chandler’s sermons.. He is my absolute favorite pastor out there. Anyway, I have a question about the Djinni magic bath creme. I am dying to try it now but the link you gave doesn’t allow me to purchase. I am wondering where Lauren gets it? Thank you!!
Loved this episode! Lauren’s story was incredible. I recently found your podcast and have been binge-listening ever since. In the car, cleaning, running… my poor husband has heard the phrase “on the podcast today there was this lady….” SO MANY TIMES. Same with my book club gals. They teased me and good-naturedly endured my recommendations (which naturally have been derived from the podcast recommendations) until one of them finally took me up on my pleading to listen and she was hooked. Another binge listener convert. 🙂
Jamie, I love the honesty and authenticity of each and every conversation. I love that it’s fun, heartfelt, and meaningful. I am challenged, encouraged and connected with people and products that are really making a difference in the world! You’ve influenced my purchases, my book club, and even how I cook (just subscribed to prep dish this week!). THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
