89-01

Who is in for a little free counseling? Elyse Fitzpatrick is my guest for Happy Hour #89 and she does not disappoint. Elyse is the mother of my friend, and previous guest, Jessica Thompson (you can listen those shows here & here). Elyse holds a certificate in biblical counseling from CCEF (San Diego) and an M.A. in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary. She has authored 22 books on daily living and the Christian life. A frequent speaker at women’s conferences, she has been married for over 40 years and has three adult children and six really adorable grandchildren. Elyse and her husband are members of Valley Center Community Church, a reformed congregation in the community of Valley Center, California. She defines her ministry with these three phrases: No fluff, no bricks, just the good news of a crucified and risen Christ.

In our conversation Elyse is so honest and vulnerable about her sin and the ways that she has made parenting mistakes. She presents the gospel that applies so clearly to the ways that we feel tempted to beat ourselves up and withhold forgiveness for ourselves. No matter what stage of life you are in, I think her words and encouragement will be like water to your soul.

Also, we talked about her podcast that you have got to check out! She and her adult children have a show called Front Porch with the Fitzes. They are such a hilarious family and their banter will definitely be a bright spot in your week.

{You can listen to the show HERE. And of course, I would love if you would share with your friends. Just use the FB & Twitter links at the end of this post!}

The Austin Stone Story Team is a community of artists who tell honest and encouraging stories of lives transformed by the gospel, leading you to worship Jesus for who He is and remember what He has done. They just launched a new project called the Story Team Weekly podcast, where you can listen to a new audio story of gospel transformation, every week. I recently worked with some of the Story Team narrators to record a few stories that will be featured in future episodes of the podcast. I have been personally impacted by these stories and I know you will be too. Subscribe to the Story Team Weekly podcast and rate them on iTunes, this will help others find the podcast and listen to these powerful  stories.
