Happy Hour #58 is with my friend Jalessa McCreary. Jaleesa is a worship leader at The Austin Stone Community Church in Austin, TX and serves as office manager for The Austin Stone Counseling Center. She has been leading worship since 2011 and focuses on the development and discipleship of female worship leaders through Austin Stone Worship. Jaleesa is passionate about encouraging women to use their gifts to serve the Church and to see the church equipped to lead and shepherd women to that end.
On today's show we discuss what it's like to be a single girl in the church and Jalessa has some great words for us married people! Jaleesa shares how she became a worship leader at The Austin Stone even after she had lost her voice years before and was never guaranteed to sing again. We chatted about the Austin Stone album that releases this Friday, and there's a free song for you to download that also plays at the end of the show. I also share a pretty funny story about how one of my kids used to think I was black. This is a super fun show where we talk about so much fun and important stuff!
{You can listen to the show HERE and if you loved this episode, I'd love it if you shared with your friends!

Already listened to it this morning … Loved it! Waiting for the free downloaded song…Thank you and can’t wait to get the new album!!!
I read Everything is Bittersweet earlier this year and loved it! I’m excited to listen to this episode!
I mean, Every Bitter Thing is Sweet. 😉
So the good news is I just listened to today’s episode! The bad news is I just binged thru all 58 episodes over the past two weeks and there aren’t any left!
Love the show. Jamie, you’re amazingly skilled at navigating sensitive topics and then hitting the fun and entertaining stuff. I’m pretty sure that if you lived in Ohio that we’d be besties!! Keep the good content coming.
Well I said the wrong title in the show, so there’s that. 🙂
Did you get the free song? Please tell me it’s working!!!
Ah you are just the best. Thanks so much! Really appreciate it!
No it’s not working … I’ve been trying all day 🙁
That’s weird. When I type: JamieIvey.com/thisgloriousgrace it pulls it up. Are you having trouble downloading the song once you get there? Or are you having trouble even getting there?
I can get there from what you said to type in. It then asked me for my email. And sent me an email but when I click on it, it says safari not able to download. Maybe it’s me … I’m trying to do it from my phone and I’m not doing it right?
so loved this interview! and this worship song is amazing, love the powerful words. thanks for sharing it with us!
Such a great interview! Love your podcasts and the work that you do in encouraging women to serve God’s church, Jamie.
Jaleesa has such a lovely voice and a wonderful testimony. The song ‘Glorious Grace’ is such a beautiful prayer.
Thanks again for what you are doing, Jamie 🙂
Jamie! I love your podcast! It gives me a taste of home all the way in Germany. I absolutely loved this episode. As a worship leader and a girl trying to find her place as a leader in the church it was so encouraging. We don’t often get to hear from the amazing women who lead worship. Just what I needed this week! Thank you!
Hi Jamie!
I’ve been a subscriber to your podcasts for some time and enjoy listening to them on my daily commute. I was listening to this particular episode yesterday, and heard you advertising the “Cheese Bread” Conference sponsored by Nourish. You repeated it over and over and it piqued my curiosity (I was also very hungry), so I HAD to come to your website and see what on earth one does at a Cheese Bread Conference.
I guess my stomach was affecting my ears because you were, obviously, talking about the She’s Brave Conference, which still sounds amazing, although not quite as delicious!
I challenge you to listen to that promo again and NOT hear the words “Cheese Bread”! Can’t get it out of my mind!
Anyway, thanks for your sweet podcast. I love it and love your guests and am always inspired and encouraged.
Karen Rutledge
Okay that is just plain hilarious!!!
Loved this episode. The concept of shepherding others (especially women) who feel called to lead in worship is amazing. Love the album..especially You Never Change and Gracious Redeemer!
I know I am so behind on this because this podcast came out in OCTOBER! #fail Wow, I am thankful beyond words for your questions for Jaleesa and the authenticity that came from her. As a single lady, I did not realize how much I needed a stranger to speak some of these truths. I really did feel like I was sitting down to coffee with y’all. Thank you both.
*Thank you* for the free download of the song. LOVE! I had never heard of Austin Stone Worship, but this is a great first taste and I’m sure I’ll want more. Thanks again.
