Happy Hour #53 is with Bailey Heard. In 2012, Bailey's life took an unexpected turn when her 29-year-old husband, Andrew, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She chronicled her experiences as a young wife, mother, and caregiver of her husband through her blog, baileyheard.com. Transformed by the courage and character of her husband as he fought for his life and determined to make his legacy known, Bailey now travels the country speaking to groups large and small, selling Andrew’s books, A Gray Faith and recently The Ellie Project written and illustrated by Andrew for their daughter, Ellie, before he passed away.
Bailey enjoys connecting with women and encouraging them with the inspirational message to allow our challenging circumstances to inspire our growth, rather than define our life. Bailey also works one-on-one with women as a life coach, helping those who’ve experienced loss to create the next chapter in their lives. She is a proud graduate of Baylor University. Bailey currently lives in Dallas, Texas with her beautiful daughter, Ellie. To follow her journey go to baileyheard.com.

I’m a huge fan of the Happy Hour podcast. I wanted to leave a comment hear to say that Bailey and her moving story left me with tears streaming down my cheeks and a inspiration to live with more gratitude and more intention. Is there anything more important than loving God and our people well? Letting them know over and over and over again so that they never have to wonder! I am so thankful to have heard her story and as always, am grateful to you for the way in which you expose us, your listeners, to such ordinary greatness. It’s all a gift.
Annnnnd….I just watched your adoption video that Bailey mentioned in the podcast and now I’m sobbing again. Such beauty! No words.
this was such a beautiful podcast to listen to. literally crying tears during my nap time listening and laundry folding. what a beautiful testimony of God’s grace and strength he gives us!
Loved listening to Bailey’s story! Thanks for sharing!
I seriously love this podcast and have to admit that this is the first time I’ve ever been to your site. I just signed up for you emails and I’m so excited (I took the survey an realized that you actually have email blasts after i filled it out- so ignore my email comment on that survey)! I’ve listened to almost every single one- I still have like 5 I need to catch up on- but other than that, I’ve binged listened to about 45 of them and probably put my kids lives at jeopardy in the car letting them fight it out in the backseat while completely ignoring them with your podcast full blast. Thank you for being so vulnerable and fun!
I first heard about Bailey and her family a few years ago when a friend of mine from high-school did a family photo-shoot soon before Andrew passed away. For 2 years now, my family has been watching my dad battle cancer, though her story is slightly different, I couldn’t help but think of my mom and all that she’s going through as she walks along this journey with my dad. Thank you, Jamie and Bailey for being bold, honest, and real. This podcast was such an encouragement to me, and I was thrilled to pass it along to my mom!
Oh my goodness. What a beautiful testimony of their family and Gods goodness even in grief. I’m gonna have to take this podcast in. So moving. Even and especially the link of Ellie seeing the book for the first time. Thank you for brining us impactful stories like the Heards. Blessed today by them and by you!
