WHAT YOU WILL HEAR
The Happy Hour #48 is with my friend Susie Davis. Susie is an author, blogger, speaker and church founder. Susie has been married to Will Davis Jr., the founding and senior pastor of Austin Christian Fellowship, for twenty-nine years. They have three children: Will III (28) – a Baylor graduate now in ministry with his wife, Amy. Emily (25) – also a Baylor grad now in ministry with her husband, Kenton Boone. Sara (21) – a junior at the University of Texas.
Aside from family and ministry, Susie is helplessly addicted to horseback riding and McDonald’s coffee. In addition, one of her all time favorites is cooking and enjoying family dinners. She has written five books over the years.
On this show we discuss how we both ended up in radio accidentally and how much we both loved it, and also how hard it is to follow our passions individually when we also feel as though we are supposed to be giving so much to our family. Susie shares about what started her down the road of being a fearful person and how that ruled her world for so many years. We then discussed parenting older kids, and she literally gave me an individual counseling session about my boys and their girlfriends. It was rather funny, especially since I kept her on the line for about 10 minutes after our interview for more counseling!! 🙂
{You can listen to the show HERE, and make sure you never miss a Happy Hour by subscribing through your favorite podcast app (ie. iTunes, Stitcher). And of course, I would love if you would share with your friends!}

Thank you Jamie for having Susie on your HH! I related to her situation completely in raising my 2 kids, who probably went to school with hers. I believe her husband was on the AISD school board for many years, where I went to school and taught in for 28 years. I remember hearing Susie on a little daily or weekly
“radio minute” on a station here in town, but can’t remember which one. Anyway, I really loved listening to her “spots”. Looking forward to reading her book and passing it on to my daughter, who is about to bless us with our first grandchild. Loved hearing you on KVET as well when you did the show, and like so many others, I don’t listen to that station anymore, but still listen to Bob Cole & Co. I hope you really enjoy the season you are in now with your children without fear, because it will be gone so very fast and all you will have is memories when they are out on their own. Thanks again for sharing your hearts.
Jamie! Thank you so much for investing into this podcast every week! As I have mentioned before in a previous iTunes review (that you even mentioned on the show yay!) I absolutely LOVE this podcast and what you do! This is an awesome ministry and the conversations you and these women have are very encouraging…so THANK YOU!
P.S. if you ever feel the need to chat with random new people for the heck of it who also love Jesus sign me up! LOL
Hey Jamie! I just recently found your podcast and LOVE it & have been binge listening like crazy!! What fun to hear from the amazing, creative, passionate women you host! Funny, most of them I already follow on instagram, but don’t actually know… so I have loved “getting to know” each of your guests! I am 20, so about 10-20 years younger than most of you fun women, but I have loved hearing from life a step ahead. I have a small business, a small blog, an internship doing graphic design for a ministry, and dream of writing a book one day… So I love hearing from women who are doing all of these things passionately for the Lord! Thanks for all you do, and I hope to chat with you in person sometime!!
Hi, Jamie! A friend recommended The Happy Hour to me a couple of weeks ago, and now I’m binge listening to catch up. 🙂 I loved this episode. I was on bed rest for two months with my second pregnancy and still deal with a lot of anxiety that started during that time. When you’re not in control of really anything in your life for a time, you really start worrying and trying to find ways to feel in control. I can’t wait to read Susie’s book. Thanks for all of your great guests and being so authentic with your listeners.
On this episode of the Happy Hour Trisha and I talk about adoption and how God has moved in mutual friends of our lives, in our own lives, and how God is stirring Trisha’s heart towards adoption. What life is like for a momma when her oldest son is graduating, and what it’s like to allow our kids to begin to live an independent life.
Hi Jamie!
I’m binge-listening and I totally love your podcasts – thanks for sharing your friends. I have to say I really appreciated this episode with Susie – she shared things about fear that I absolutely needed to hear – so good. Also, just wanted to share that when my first son was tiny, he started referring to my mother-in-law as ‘Muck’. She is wonderful and gracious and proudly shares her ‘grandma name’ with her friends. All three of my sons (9, 7 and 4) adore their ‘Muck’. 🙂
