Lauren Scruggs Kennedy is my guest for The Happy Hour #137. Lauren is a Texas girl who was swept away to California by the love her life. She has a love for fashion that has been tightly sewn through interning in wardrobe for the CW’s Gossip Girl, the Michael Kors showroom in New York City, and reporting for New York, Paris, and Montreal Fashion Weeks. She's the author of two best-selling books and keeps up with a lifestyle blog that ignites honest talk and community by sharing stories rooted in balance.
You may recognize Lauren from new stories in 2011 when she lost her arm in a small airplane propeller. In my chat with Lauren, she shares about the events, her recovery, and her choice to have a prosthetic arm. Like many of the guests that we've had on The Happy Hour who have experienced extreme trauma, Lauren says in some ways she misses the days of suffering because of how completely dependent she was on God.
Lauren also shares about how she met and fell in love with her husband, Jason. Her parents were divorced for 7 years and got remarried when she was 11. In our conversation, Lauren shares about how that experience helped shape her view and expectations of marriage.
And finally, we chat about Lauren's newest ventures – including a dry shampoo line and a foundation which exists to bring hope, restore dignity, and ignite faith in girls and women with limb loss by providing beautiful cosmetic coverings for prostheses.
We just about covered it all in today's conversation. I am 100% that you're going to love getting to know Lauren. Make sure to send her a quick shout out and thank her for coming on The Happy Hour!

Taking My Life Back
On April 15, 2013, Rebekah Gregory and her five-year- old son waited at the finish line of the Boston Marathon to support a friend who was running. When the blast of a homemade bomb packed with nails and screws went off three feet behind her, Rebekah’s legs took the brunt of the explosion. Seventeen surgeries and sixty-five procedures later, she made the decision to have her left leg amputated. This stirring memoir tells of Rebekah’s remarkable recovery—including her triumphant return to Boston two years later to run part of the race and her participation in the trial of one of the terrorists.

Halo Top
When it comes to food, pleasing the whole family can be a task, to put it lightly. When it comes to dessert, it's easy to please, but hard to keep it healthy, until now. Halo Top is a low-calorie, high-protein, and low-sugar ice cream that tastes like the real thing, because it is. Don't take our word for it, try it yourself, just know that there's no going back once you do because nothing tastes better than not having to compromise.
