HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMOS!

Today my sweet boy turns FIVE! Oh my word. I feel like I missed so much of his life, but I guess in the big picture of life we have many more years to celebrate with our son.
Amos is loving that today is his birthday. We've been talking about it for a while now, and the fact that it is TODAY is nearly too much for him to handle!!! Now I'm trying to explain to him that his party where his friends come over isn't for a few weeks. Poor kid! This move has put us all in a tailspin and unfortunately his birthday party got pushed back about 3 different times!
Whenever I see Amos around the house this morning I give him a big hug and tell him that he is FIVE NOW and he gets the biggest smile on his face and says to me “THANK YOU FOR MY BIRTHDAY MOMMA!”. It cracks me up! I don't have the heart to tell him that I had nothing to do with today being his birthday. That was all God's doing!
This little boy captured our heart back in August of 2007 and our lives have never been the same since then. Starting the adoption process for this little boy has not only changed our lives forever, but I believe that his story has touched hundreds and quite possibly even changed a few lives along the way.
His journey to us was a long one for not only us but for him as well. He had to endure us leaving him time and time again, but I believe he also grew to love us and know us in a way that wouldn't have been possible had we not visited him like we did.
This past Sunday marked four months since he has been home. It seems like it's been much longer than only four months. I would say in the last month we have started to see improvements in his life, behavior and our life around home. He has come so far in these four months, and I know we still have so far to go.
This kid is a joy in our lives. His innocence is a treasure and the way he gets excited about the smallest things in life is a lesson we could all learn from!
Amos, your momma loves you so much and I will never leave you and you will never leave me. We're stuck together forever. You have changed my life for the better and for that I'm so thankful about. God knew that you would do big things in your life when he created you. You have been through a lot in your first five years of life, but he is your sustainer and help as you journey through your life. I love you my sweet Amos!
