I have been trying to eat better and one way that I'm trying to do that for myself and for my kids is through more smoothies.

This sounds great! And actually, did you know the bananas release more nutrients when they are brown? My husband used to manage Smoothie King, and that is when they would use them.
I LOVE the idea for bananas!!! They turn so quickly anymore. Thanks!!!
I LOVE smoothies too! Especially in the warmer weather I have one every morning for breakfast. I make mine very simply: frozen strawberries, bananas, peaches (even canned stuff), milk of any kind, vanilla greek yogurt, and I use whey protein in mine in order for it to stick with me like a meal should. It will tied me over through an entire work out!
My mother in law does not like milk of any kind so her is like this: Juice as a base, she normally uses orange or apple juice, fresh fruit and more yogurt. Hers is sweeter and more tart, but good for a change.
LOVE the ideas you shared, will try them next week myself!
Thanks for sharing! I forget how yummy and easy smoothies can be. Lately I’ve just been using a powdered kind with skim milk and a few ice cubes. I should do a bit of experimenting. Not too sure about the greens in my drink though. I have done this recipe for years:
plain or vanilla yogurt, frozen berries, stevia and protein powder.
Our smoothie this morning was fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries, a whole avacado, the meat and juice of a Thai coconut, a banana and flax seeds (and ice). Throwing in an avacado is a great way for all of us to get our essential fatty acids and to be a bit more satisfied. We have been eating more raw so we are drinking more smoothies too. We also use coconut keifer to avoid milk.
