Hey, friends! If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know I’m not gluten & dairy free and are wondering why I’m writing a blog about it. Fun fact, my daughter, Story is! Look how cute she is:
It’s really important to us that Story gets to eat delicious food within her diet. And if anyone in your family is gluten and/or dairy free (or maybe it’s you!), we all know how hard that can be during the holidays. So we want to help you out this holiday season and give you some great cookbook and recipe options for you to try out! If you should know anything at all about the Ivey’s, it’s that we can eat. We’ve got you covered!
I also have a whole Amazon list in my shop for all things gluten and dairy free – click HERE.
Danielle Walker’s cookbooks have been a life-saver for us finding delicious recipes within Story’s dietary restrictions. Her cookbook Celebrations is a go-to for any occasion, especially the holidays. You absolutely have to make her Curry Pumpkin Soup and Cranberry Gingerbread Cake. They are incredible, even for people with no dietary restrictions. Let me know how you like it!
Deliciously Dairy Free
Dairy free is hard. I feel like gluten free has been creating more accessible and delicious options for a while now, like chickpea and cauliflower based recipes. But dairy free can be a lot more difficult, so when I find recipes that are good, I stick with them! Lesley Waters cookbook Deliciously Dairy Free is packed full of simple yet delicious recipes that are really easy for everyday options, and special occasions! Her recipe for Vanilla Bean and Olive Oil Cake is Story’s absolute favorite, so I couldn’t write this blog without mentioning that one! It would be a great dish for your upcoming Christmas parties!
Against All Grain
Another favorite from Danielle Walker! Against All Grain is great because it’s really helpful for the day to day. Sometimes trying to stay within such specific dietary restrictions feels so overwhelming, but Danielle does an incredible job at laying out recipes that are absolutely in reach for an average cook! The spinach artichoke dip is my FAVORITE. It’s a comfort food that I love and now Story can have it, too! Also, her Toasted Marshmallow S’more Tart is to die for. All in all, you don’t have to be a pro to be successful with these recipes. They truly are for anyone and everyone that needs to get something gluten/dairy free on the table!
Let me know in the comments which recipes you’ve tried! And make sure you keep up with my Amazon shop – I’ll be adding more gluten and dairy free things there overtime to make it easy for you!
Story and I got your back (:
