My hope this month is that I can showcase a few organizations that are giving back with each of your purchases.  These are organizations that are committed to doing more with your dollars than just pocketing them for themselves.  They care about the least of these.  As you prepare for Christmas shopping I ask that you think about your money and don't just throw it to anyone.  There are lots of giveaways this month, so check back daily!

HILL COUNTRY HILL TRIBERS

Hill Country Hill Tribers is an organization that is close to my heart because they are right here in my home town of Austin!  They work primarily with refugees from Burma as they look to find their way in this crazy new world.  Most of them are forced to leave their home, community and country with little to their name.

HCHT gives them a way to use their talent and make a living by doing it!  Last year I gave away a necklace that I wear often and get so many compliments on .  Their stuff is just beautiful!

This year they are  giving away their “teamwork” necklace. The multicolored Kachin Necklace is an act of love shared by their little community. Each artisan wraps dozens of small hoops in just two colors, then they gather together to trade colors. When she's finished, the artisan who assembles the necklaces has all of the colors she needs so that each necklace has eight hoops in corals, greens and neutrals. Their shared teamwork is a testimony to the strength of this group of amazing women. The necklace they are giving away was assembled by Nang, but each woman in the group–Pwe, Huang, Christine and Nang–had a hand in making it. Purchasing this piece allows her to help her family by earning income and stay connected to her culture through our jewelry-making meetings.

Isn't this necklace just beautiful!  I could wear it with just about anything!
