My hope this month is that I can showcase a few organizations that are giving back with each of your purchases. Here's a giveaway from another organization doing fabulous things in Haiti. I found out about this organization from my friend Marian when I saw her wearing on of their fabulous head bands. I was so exited to find out that these were made in Haiti and so I went home and immediately bought myself two of them! Little did I know they made more than head bands!
3 Cords is a social enterprise founded in September 2010 to train, employ, and empower Haitian amputee women and their families. Our mission is to provide opportunities to women that are deemed useless in their communities due to their physical disabilities, and to show them that they are both beautiful and valuable. We do this by training the women as artisans in a loving, community oriented environment.
Their vision is to change lives by providing jobs for women to empower them to provide for themselves and their families. In most cases, the women at 3 Cords are caring for multiple adults and children within their families. By working full-time jobs, these women are naturally empowered, being viewed as hard workers and breadwinners in their communities. The hope is that 3 Cords can disprove the cultural stigma against handicapped people in Haiti, and show Jesus’ model of redemption and hope for the world.
