31 BIG finalDear Jamie in 1993, 1994, 1995 & 1996 English classes,

Here's the deal you too-cool-for-school kid, you should read the books your teacher is assigning you.  Seriously.  One day believe it or not, you will wish you had more time to read.  One day people will talk about McBeth and all you will know is what you read in your little yellow pamphlet that was written by someone named Cliff.  One day you will have to go back and read the classics that you chose not to read in high school.  One day you'll actually wish you knew something about Mr Darcy.

I mean you have a really cool story to tell everyone about how you did your senior English project over a book you never read.  Still to this day I'm not sure exactly who Beowulf is.  I'm sure Mrs. Kelley wasn't as stupid as you thought she was, and clearly she passed you because of your good charm!

Jamie, go read the books.  For real.  What else do you have to do with yourself?  You don't have to do laundry.  You don't have to cook dinner.  You don't have to take anyone to orthodontist appointments and practices across town.  You don't have a job.  You hang out with friends and run track, for the love, open a book or two.

Go read.  For real.  Trust me.

Love,

Jamie in 2013 that wishes she had more time to read.
