Hello again! You know I just LOVE sharing book recommendations with you. I had quite a bit going on this month so the list is a little shorter this time around. Sooner or later, I'll get more reading time so I have all the books to share with you!

Here's what I read in September:

Open Book

I have been hearing about this book for months and I'm so happy I finally took the time to read it. Open Book by Jessica Simpson was incredibly written. There was a lot of vulnerability in sharing some of her most intimate struggles, while also revealing how she has learned to overcome them. This book definitely took me by surprise, and I would highly recommend you grab a copy!

So You Want To Talk About Race

This has been on my read list for a while, and I will be adding it to my list of books to educate around this topic. So You Want To Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo is a wonderful guide on how to have tough conversations, how to be more understanding and compassionate, and how to explain things that can feel difficult or touchy to articulate. If you are looking for a resource that is helpful in effectively initiating conversations that need to be had, this could be the right book for you!

You Be You

I am going for the shameless plug here because my book, You Be You: Why Satisfaction and Success Are Closer Than You Think, is officially out in the world and I am too excited not to talk about it! When I first announced the book, I got a lot of questions around the title because it sounds like a self-help, “You control your destiny” kind of book. But it's actually completely different. I wrote You Be You to remind all of us that God has a plan for our lives, and He has given us gifts and talents to live out those plans, we just have to be faithful to His calling. You Be You truly means to be who God has called you to be, rather than believing the lie that being somebody else will allow you to fulfill the plan that God has already so perfectly written. I am so passionate about this message, and I'm jumping up and down that it is finally out there! Pick up a copy wherever you buy books, and let me know what you think!

Note: Just a reminder, as you read the list of books I recommend, remember to use discernment. While I may recommend a book or author, it does not suggest that I am in full agreement with every opinion/statement that the author portrays.
