I do love reading, but I'm such a sporadic reader. I'll go months and read one book, and then read two books in a month. I wish I had lots more time to read. I actually probably wish I read more books and less Facebook. That's the answer!
I try to keep a running list of books I read on my blog. I also have a Goodreads account that helps me organize what I've read and what I want to read. I downloaded the kindle app on my phone recently and let me tell you that you can get lots of reading done in carpool lines every single day! I guess I forgot to post my books for last year, but here's the list from 2010.
Here's what I read this year:
Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins – of course you know I had to get in on this trilogy!
7: An Experiential Mutany – Jen Hatmaker – this would be a great book to start of 2013 with!
Hunger for God – John Piper – I listened to this book. I found out that reading John Piper is hard for me, but I can listen much better. This was my first Piper book.
Wednesday's Were Pretty Normal: A boy, cancer and God – Michael Kelley – one of my favorite books that I read this year
When Helping Hurts – Brian Fikkert – I'm actually someone in the midst of this one, but it's been on my reading table for about 2 years so I'm calling it a day. 🙂
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader – C.S. Lewis – we are SLOWLY reading all the books in the Chronicles of Narnia series. I wish we were doing this faster, but it is what it is.
Catching Fire – Suzanne Collins
Heroes and Monsters – Josh Riebok – we actually had the author join us at our book club this Spring and that was super fun! He lives in Austin. Great read.
The Year of Magical Thinking – Joan Didion – I wasn't much of a fan of this one, but plenty of people in the book club were.
The Heretics Daughter – Kathleen Kent – another book club read that I really enjoyed.
Jesus, My Father, the CIA and Me – Ian Morgan Cron – this is a memoir, and if you know me, you know that I LOVE a good memoir!
Miniskirts, Mothers and Muslims – Christine Mallouhi
Expecting Adam – Martha Beck – another memoir. Loved this one.
Before I go to Sleep – SJ Watson – a mystery book of sorts. I enjoyed it.
The Giver – Lois Lowry – have wanted to read for years and I loved this book, but the ending left me upset and confused and wanting more.
Gathering Blue – Lois Lowry – the second book in this series. I think there is one more, maybe two. Not sure, but they'll be on my list for 2013 because I need closure!
Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn – mystery book that I really enjoyed. It's one of those books that I find myself thinking about the two characters and wondering how they are doing now. As if I really know them in real life.
I dont' have much on my list for 2013 yet, so I need your suggestions! Leave me a comment and let me know what I MUST read in 2013. Did you read any of these books that I read last year? Like them?
Anything by Elizabeth Musser….Swan House, The Sweetest Thing…
Thanks Jill! I added this to my goodnreads “to read” section! I love hearing about new books!
Hi! I found your blog via FB!
I used to be a junior high english teacher and my students and I loved The Giver. There are other books in the seris: The Messanger and Gathering Blue. I’ve read the latter a lone time ago and really enjoyed it!
