I'm so glad you are here!
I started blogging in 2005 when we were in our first adoption process. It was a great way to keep family updated as to what was going on since we were a few states away. Over the years it's evolved into a place for me to be more personal and share life with you. It sometimes is weird that I put so much of myself out there, but I feel as though my raw and intimate writing is a breath of fresh air for so many of you. I trust that God will use my word to encourage you and show you that you are not alone. We're all on this journey of life together and we need each other to get to the end!
I wrote letters to myself one month and I urge you to try this. What would you say to your former self? It's harder than you think and actually very healing.
I write about my faith, parenting, and marriage a lot. Those seem to be topics that are close to my heart these days. Like the time I talked to my oldest about sex, or when I told you all about needing medical help for anxiety after I became a mom to four. I've also shared my journey to motherhood, and how I love my husband more than I love my kids. I also shared too much information with you all when I told you that I found out that my husband, Aaron, actually does care about what kind of panties I wear – I know TMI!
Since three of our children joined our family via adoption that topic is discussed a lot on my blog. I love having friends share their experiences as well, and that led me to do a small series called “Where should I adopt from?” that I know helped a lot of people as they listened to others share their stories. I've written about adoption comments that have gone wrong and what you should do if you want to adopt and your husband does not. Two of our children were born in Haiti and so I have written about our time there and some organizations that we love.
Random facts about me: I was engaged before I met Aaron and called it off. I was as DJ here in Austin for a few months. I want to write a book. We don't do Santa. I ran in the junior Olympics when I was younger. That's why I now have the motto: Once an athlete always an athlete. Right!!?
I'm glad you are here and I hope you sit down with a cup off coffee, tea or a glass of wine and let's get to know each other. I love comments and you can also connect with me via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
