This morning Aaron, Deacon and I spent time at Starbuck's. We head there every Monday morning while Cayden is in art class. As we were enjoying our coffee, cereal and books a man came over and shared something with us. He told us that he didn't mean to stare but upon seeing our son he had a vision and he felt it was strong enough to share with us. He patted Deacon on the head as he told us that when he saw Deacon he saw a vision of a strong oak tree with lots of branches planted by a stream of water. He said the tree was big and bearing lots of fruit. He said I have no idea what this means to you guys but I thought I should share. He then walked away and Aaron and I just looked at each other in awe. I feel as though Deacon has done so much in our life and other's lives. He is an inspiration to people in his young age. He has showed people that it is possible to have a transracial family. He has shown people that it is possible to love a child that wasn't created in your own body. He has opened people's eyes to a different way of creating a family. I believe that God has created each of my children uniquely with different gifts and talents. I believe that Deacon will bear much fruit in his life and he has already started even at the age of two.
Psalm 1: 1-3
“Blessed ins the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is LIKE A TREE PLANTED BY STREAMS OF WATER, WHICH YIELDS ITS FRUIT IN SEASON AND WHOSE LEAF DOES NOT WITHER. Whatever he does prospers.”
Amen! Let it be, Lord!
That is great on so many levels. I know how nerve-racking it can be to tell a stranger something like that. I am really glad that you were able to hear that encouraging word.
Adoption is something that seems to confuse many people because orphaned/unwanted kids seem like “open boxed items” and they aren’t as good as new ones. I hate that there are so many orphaned kids in the world who need love, but we just keep that old addage, “Out of sight, out of mind”. Whenever my wife and get around to kids we can’t wait to adopt a child to pour our love into him/her. I love that they are a reminder that God loves us and adopted us as His own.
Sorry for the rant, but I thought I am glad to see so many people adopting. 🙂
That is so awesome. Thought of this…
“…They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” Isaiah 61
Love it! That is so cool…
And that’s a nice shirt Deacon is wearing… 🙂
Love,

“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace. You will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, for the display of His splendor.” Isaiah 55:12
May it be, Lord, may it be so……for Deacon, Cayden, Amos, and Story, too!
Absolutely, so be it, Lord!! Yes and Amen.
What a cutie.
