A friend of mine and a fellow adoptive mom gave me some good advice tonight. I'm going to try it out. It's not usually how I do things, but maybe it will help.
They entered IBESR around the same time we did. I ask her weekly about their status. I'm sure she's tired of those emails. She told me tonight that they expect to be there for 6 months and so if it is shorter then they're excited.
I'm going to try this. So, I expect us to be in IBESR until ….. October 28th. WOW – I DO NOT like the way that looks.
If it ends up being longer than this than I'm mad at her for this advice! YES … you know who you are!!!!!
Hey –
SOOO UNRELATED, but I just wanted to say hi. I’m Tara Livesay’s sister-in-law, and started stalking, I mean, reading your blog when you visited them in May. We’re about the same age with kids the same age, and so I was initially shocked to notice how into reading you are, or seem to be. So I figured I’d try (hadn’t picked up a book since grad school a couple years back, and then that was forced academic stuff…) and I was so happy that finding the time to read wasn’t impossible like I thought it would be! I started with A Thousand Splendid Suns and Kite Runner, and now I have this huge list going that I’m excited to get to. So thanks for that 🙂 I also just gotta say that I love your kids – absolutely adorable! How old is Story now? She looks about the age of my little Stella… Anyway, I just thought it was weird that I was enjoying reading about your life and you didn’t know I exist. So there ya go, I’m here 🙂 Best of luck with the adoption stuff!

oh, i do this all the time!! i set a, what i think, is worst case scenario and then i will be pleasantly suprised if something happens earlier. my timelines have been way off during the process…but it really does help me get through.
i think it is good advice…and hopefully it will work and give you some peace!
Hi! We too are adopting from Haiti and I can totally realte to this agonizing wait. Hope you are pleasantly suprised and you make it through way before Oct.
I do the same thing to women with their first pregnancy. Take whatever due date the doctor gives you and ADD TWO WEEKS!
Hi Jamie,
I saw your post on my blog! Files seem to be flying out in Haiti right now and I hope your is soon. Not sure who you are working with but certain O’s seem to get files through faster. We have two home as you seen on my blog and it took right at a year for the whole process once our dossier reach Haiti, Good luck and I look for to reading your blog!
Janet
I hope too that you are happily surprised. I have endured long waits but also been happily surprised. You just never know, but you will find alot of support thru the blogs!
I love it. . .yes, that’s a great idea. I tell expectant moms the same thing. . expect to be 4 days late! The only problem is that with adoption it isn’t in days, but weeks or months! aagh!
Can’t wait for you to be with them again in September!
