Today is a big day. In 12 weeks I'll be running another half marathon! Oh I'm so excited about this race. It's not just a race, but a fund raising event. All the money that is raised through this event goes towards helping people with their adoptions! How awesome is that. I'd run 4 half's a year if all my money went towards such a good cause!!!
The race is called THE CHOSEN MARATHON and all of the money that us Stoner's (that's what I'm calling us from the Austin Stone!) race goes directly into our Abba Fund at our church. So, my registration fee will literally help someone from MY CHURCH bring their kid home through an adoption. Oh that just gives me chills. I love this!
I started training a few weeks ago and so far it has been okay. I'm so out of shape. I mean so out of shape. Kinda embarrassing. But I'm working on it! That's all that counts, right?! My “official” training for this race is only 10 weeks long, so I really have 2 more weeks to just run and not worry about it, but I need to get my butt in gear or that first week will kill me!
I have a goal for this race. I'm trying to beat 2 hours. I have yet to finish a half in less than 2 hours and I really want to. That means my training is going to be very different.
So, I'll let you know when my “official” training begins. In the mean time I'll still be trying to get some miles in each week and try to not pass out or throw up along the way!
This sounds like a great race! How exciting to be running it for a cause so close to your own heart. I can’t wait to hear about you working toward your goal. I’ve never been able to break 2 hours. My PR is 2:03:something. Go, Jamie, Go!

I have always referred to you Austin Stone freak heads as “The Stoner’s.” I find it enduring. 🙂
Hi Jamie. Good luck on your training. And thanks for raising money for a good cause. That makes it so much motivating. If you need a little extra motivation, check out LifeSpace.com where you can enter your running goal and it will provide a free training program.
Good luck! Greg
